Conservation at the Heart of Sisal Dive Center

At Sisal Dive Center, reef conservation is not a marketing add-on — it's woven into every dive we do. We run active programs that measurably improve the health of Sisal's reef ecosystem: coral restoration, lionfish population control, sea turtle protection, and marine debris removal. Guests can participate in all of these.

Our Active Conservation Programs

(1) Coral Restoration: we grow coral fragments in underwater nurseries and transplant them to degraded reef sections — over 2,000 fragments transplanted to date. (2) Lionfish Control: certified divers participate in regular culling dives to protect native species from this invasive predator. (3) Reef Health Monitoring: monthly transect surveys tracking coral cover, fish populations, and water temperature. (4) Sea Turtle Tagging: seasonal program with CONANP.

Join Our Conservation Programs

Open Water certified divers can join our lionfish culling dives and coral transplant sessions. Advanced divers can participate in reef health monitoring transects. Week-long volunteer immersions are available for those who want a deeper involvement. Contact us on WhatsApp to learn about dates, requirements, and how your visit contributes to Sisal's reef future.
